Hire the Genie Superlift SL25 from Hall-Fast — the tallest manual material lift in the Genie Superlift range, reaching 7.94m at a 295kg lift capacity. Mechanically identical to the SL24 other than the extended mast, the SL25 is the right choice when your installation work sits at the very upper end of industrial ceiling heights and the SL24's 7.3m falls just short. Same 800mm width that fits through any standard doorway, same 2m closed height that fits in any standard tall-roof van. Available for daily, weekend and weekly hire, with fast delivery across Nottingham, Mansfield, Sheffield, Leeds, Derby and the surrounding Midlands and Yorkshire regions.

When to choose the SL25 over the SL24

The SL25 and the SL24 are mechanically the same lift in every measurable way except reach. Capacity, weight, width, closed height, length and load centre are all identical. The only differentiator is the SL25's extra 64cm of mast extension.

That makes the decision simple:

  • If your installation work is between 5m and 7.3m, the SL24 reaches it. Use that.
  • If your work is between 7.3m and 7.94m, the SL24 doesn't quite reach. The SL25 does.

It's not a question of "which lift is better". They're the same lift; you just need to know how high you're actually working before you book. Measure first, then hire.

A few situations where 64cm makes a real difference:

  • Industrial ceilings at the upper end of common ranges (typically 7.5m–8m clear height)
  • High-bay lighting at maximum standard mounting heights
  • Mezzanine soffit installations where the SL24 falls short of the underside
  • Larger distribution centres with above-average eaves heights
  • Production facilities with overhead crane rails clear of the SL24's reach but within the SL25's

If you're not sure which is needed, call us — we'd rather help you choose correctly than send the wrong lift.

The engineering achievement here mirrors the SL24: 7.94m of reach in a unit that still folds to 2m and passes through an 800mm doorway. Even at the tallest point in the Superlift range, the lift travels in a standard van and gets into any commercial building.

What is the SL25 used for?

The SL25 covers the same application set as the SL24, with the extra 64cm of reach opening up jobs at the very top of typical industrial ceiling heights:

  • High-bay LED and warehouse lighting at maximum standard mounting heights
  • Industrial HVAC installation in taller warehouses and distribution centres
  • Sprinkler and fire suppression systems at industrial ceiling levels above 7.3m
  • Mezzanine soffit installations — installing services beneath the underside of higher mezzanines
  • Large signage and branding at multi-storey heights
  • Industrial AV equipment — cameras, projectors and displays at peak mounting heights
  • Cable tray and containment runs at upper industrial ceiling levels
  • Sprinkler head installation and maintenance in tall distribution centres
  • Production line installations in factories with above-average headroom
  • Cleanroom and laboratory fit-out in taller buildings
  • Atria and showroom fit-out in larger multi-storey commercial spaces

Most installation contractors who need an SL24 occasionally will need an SL25 even less often — but when the reach requirement is between 7.3m and 7.94m, no other manual Superlift in the family will do.

Key features of the SL25

  • 7.94m maximum lift height — the tallest reach in the entire manual Superlift range
  • 295kg lifting capacity — same as the SL24, enough for most installation loads
  • 800mm width — fits through any standard doorway, even at 7.94m reach
  • 2m closed height — fits in any standard tall-roof van
  • Manual winch operation — no power supply required
  • One-person operation — load, position, lift and lower without a second pair of hands
  • Rear roller for easier vehicle loading
  • Genie build quality — the industry-standard brand for material lifts
  • Fully inspected before every hire

Practical considerations

All the practical points that apply to the SL24 apply equally to the SL25:

  • Loading and unloading is a two-person job — at 204kg, plan for two people and use the rear roller with a ramp
  • Ground conditions are critical — at 7.94m mast extension, any base unevenness is amplified into significant load sway at the top
  • Confirm overhead clearance to 7.94m+ before lifting, including ceiling-mounted services, lighting, sprinklers and structural members
  • Plan the lift in advance — fine-positioning at 7.94m is significantly harder than at lower heights
  • The 295kg capacity is firm — and this is the load chart for the standard 460mm load centre; using extension forks further reduces the safe SWL because the load centre moves outward
  • Watch for air movement if working near loading doors or large openings — even a small breeze affects a load at nearly 8m

Safe operation

The SL25 operates the same way as the SL24 — same winch, same controls, same outriggers, same load chart at 460mm load centre. The extra 64cm of mast does, however, slightly amplify every height-related risk factor.

  1. Set up on solid, level ground — non-negotiable on the SL25
  2. Engage all outriggers and stabilisers fully before lifting
  3. Confirm overhead clearance above the maximum lift height before raising
  4. Plan the lift route and the load's final position in advance
  5. Stay within the 295kg capacity and 460mm load centre — refer to the load chart for any extended-fork operation
  6. Lift slowly and steadily — smooth winch action prevents sway
  7. Wear PPE — gloves, safety boots, hard hat, hi-vis on commercial sites
  8. Never use the SL25 to raise a person — material lifts are not personnel lifts

The SL25 must never be used to raise a person, under any circumstances. For working at the load height, use a MiTower mobile scaffold tower, scissor lift or appropriate MEWP — and follow current Working at Height regulations.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the SL24 and SL25? Only the maximum lift height. The SL25 reaches 7.94m; the SL24 reaches 7.3m. Capacity (295kg), weight (204kg), width (800mm), closed height (2m) and load centre (460mm) are all identical. Choose based on the reach you actually need.

Is the SL25 worth hiring over the SL24? Only if your job needs more than 7.3m of reach. If the SL24 will reach your working height, hire that instead — same operational characteristics, typically a slightly lower hire rate.

How high does the SL25 lift? The maximum lift height is 7.94m — the tallest reach in Genie's manual Superlift range.

What's the lift capacity of the SL25? Up to 295kg, within a 460mm load centre distance — the same capacity as the SL24.

Will the SL25 fit through a standard doorway? Yes — at 800mm wide, it fits through any standard internal or external doorway. The 2m closed transport height also fits in any standard tall-roof van.

Can one person operate the SL25? Yes — loading, positioning, lifting and lowering can all be done by one operator. However, the 204kg lift weight makes loading and unloading a two-person job.

Can the SL25 be used to lift a person? No, under any circumstances. Like all material lifts, the SL25 is rated for materials only. Using it to lift a person is dangerous and breaches Working at Height regulations.

Do extension forks work with the SL25? Yes — Genie extension forks fit the SL25 the same way they fit every other Superlift. Remember that extending the forks moves the load centre outward, which reduces the lift's safe working load. Always refer to the load chart for the specific reduced SWL.

Do you deliver the SL25? Yes — we deliver across Nottingham, Mansfield, Sheffield, Leeds, Derby, Coventry and surrounding areas, with nationwide delivery available on request.

Is hiring cheaper than buying an SL25? For nearly everyone, yes. The SL25 is the most specialist lift in the Superlift range — used intensively on specific high-reach jobs and idle in between. Hire saves significantly on capital, storage, LOLER inspection costs and maintenance.
