Rack Armour® Large Upright Racking Protectors - Hi Vis Yellow (300mm)
Built for the Toughest Warehouse Environments
When you're running counterbalance forklifts handling 2,000kg+ pallets, reach trucks loading at height, or articulated trucks moving heavy industrial product, the racking system underneath it all is taking serious punishment. The Rack Armour® Large (Euro C) is the protector specified for those operations — the size fitted across UK steel stockholders, automotive parts distributors, white goods warehousing, and heavy industrial component stores where standard medium-duty protection isn't enough.
Designed to fit Euro C upright profiles up to 110mm front-facing, this is the size used on heavy-duty pallet racking from manufacturers including Stakapal, Redirack, Apex, Polypal and the heavy-duty ranges from Dexion, Link 51, and Mecalux. If your racking is rated for pallet weights above 1,500kg per beam pair, you're almost certainly looking at Euro C uprights — and you need the impact protection to match.
At 300mm tall, the Large Rack Armour® covers the critical impact zone of every upright while remaining compatible with low-level pallet positions and floor-stacked product alongside the racking.
Why Heavy-Duty Operations Need Rack Armour® Specifically
In heavy-duty MHE environments, the case for absorbing impact energy — rather than transferring it — gets considerably stronger. Larger forklifts hit harder. A 5-tonne counterbalance reversing into an upright at 5km/h delivers far more energy than a 1.5-tonne pedestrian truck doing the same. Steel rack guards in heavy-duty environments routinely:
- Bend or shear at the fixing points after one significant strike
- Crack the floor slab or pull anchor bolts free
- Transfer enough force to bow the upright behind them anyway
- Need replacement after a single hit, not multiple
Rack Armour® was engineered specifically for this problem. The patented HDPE energy-absorbing geometry deforms predictably under impact, dissipating force before it reaches the rack leg — and crucially, the protector returns close to its original shape after most impacts and continues to perform.
Independently validated to deliver an 80% reduction in racking damage, tested to FEM 10.2.16, and proven in heavy-duty UK warehouses for over 15 years.

The Full Rack Armour® Sizing Range
Choosing the right size is critical — the protector must fit snugly to perform. Measure the front face of your upright leg and match to:
- Up to 87mm → Small (Euro A)
- Up to 100mm → Medium (Euro B)
- Up to 110mm → Large (Euro C) ← this product
- Up to 125mm → XL
- Up to 140mm → XXL
The Large fits the most common heavy-duty profile in UK warehousing. If you're protecting drive-in racking, mobile racking, cantilever racking for long product, or any system rated above 1,500kg per beam pair, this is most likely the size you need. If in doubt, send our team a photo of the upright leg with a tape measure and we'll confirm before you order.
Where the Large Rack Armour® Performs Best
- Heavy-duty pallet racking with pallet weights of 1,500–3,000kg per beam pair
- Drive-in and drive-through racking — high-density storage with constant forklift entry
- Wide-span and shelf-load racking in heavy industrial settings
- Cold and frozen storage for heavy stock (meat, dairy, frozen ready meals at scale)
- Steel stockholders and metal merchants — heavy product, large MHE
- Automotive parts distribution — engines, panels, body assemblies
- Builders' merchants and timber yards — heavy bulk product, mixed yard traffic
- Manufacturing raw material stores — large coils, steel, machined components
- White goods and large appliance distribution centres
The Cost of Damage in Heavy-Duty Racking
In heavy-duty warehousing, the cost of a single impact event escalates fast — because the consequences scale with the racking load:
- Replacement Euro C upright: £250–£600+
- Engineer call-out and labour: £300–£800
- Stock relocation from affected bay: half a shift to a full day of warehouse labour
- Lost storage during repair: 24–96 hours per damaged bay
- SEMA re-inspection and certification: £200–£600
- Rack collapse risk: in heavy-duty racking, a single damaged upright can compromise an entire run, with stock loss running into tens of thousands and serious injury risk
For most heavy-duty operations, fitting Rack Armour® to every aisle-end and intersection upright costs less than recovering from a single moderate impact — and significantly less than the insurance and HSE consequences of a rack collapse.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will Rack Armour® Large fit my heavy-duty racking?
If your upright leg measures up to 110mm wide on the front face, yes. This covers the majority of heavy-duty pallet racking systems used across UK industry — including the heavy-duty ranges from major manufacturers. If your leg is wider than 110mm, you'll need the XL (up to 125mm) or XXL (up to 140mm) size instead.
Can Rack Armour® be used on drive-in racking?
Yes — and drive-in racking is one of the most important applications for impact protection. Drive-in systems see constant forklift entry into the racking structure itself, which dramatically increases impact frequency. Rack Armour® is widely fitted to the entry uprights of drive-in lanes, where impact risk is highest. The clip-on design also means the protectors don't reduce the lane width that drive-in operations depend on.
Does the Large size work with mobile racking?
Yes, and the energy-absorbing properties are particularly valuable in mobile racking systems where damaged uprights can prevent the entire bay from moving. Rack Armour® has been fitted to mobile racking installations across UK cold storage and pharmaceutical operations.
What about cantilever racking for long product?
Rack Armour® can be fitted to the column bases of cantilever racking systems in steel stockholding, timber merchants, and similar operations — provided the column profile matches one of the standard sizes. Send our team your column dimensions and we'll confirm fit.
How does it perform against larger forklifts and reach trucks?
Rack Armour® is designed to absorb impacts from a wide range of MHE, including counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks, articulated trucks, and pedestrian-operated stackers. While no protector is indestructible against the heaviest impacts, the energy-absorbing design significantly reduces the damage transferred to the rack — the difference between a minor scuff and a structural replacement.
Will it work in deep-freeze cold storage?
Yes. The HDPE material is rated to -40°C and has been operational in UK and European cold stores for over a decade without becoming brittle, cracking, or losing impact performance.
Is bulk pricing available for full warehouse rollouts?
Yes. We supply Rack Armour® across single sites and multi-site rollouts, with trade pricing on volume orders, free UK mainland delivery on qualifying quantities, and dedicated account management for major projects. Call 01623 645645 or email sales@hall-fast.com for a project quotation.
Can I get a site survey?
Yes — for larger projects we can arrange a site survey to identify exposed uprights, recommend protector sizes, and quantify the rollout. Contact our team to discuss.
How does Rack Armour® support my SEMA inspection regime?
Rack Armour® is designed to integrate with — not interfere with — SEMA-approved rack inspections. The protectors lift off in seconds for inspection access and refit without tools. Many UK warehouses report that fitting Rack Armour® reduces the number of "flagged" uprights at inspection, lowering ongoing remediation costs.
