Draper Storm Force® 20V Cordless Impact Driver, 1/4" Hex. (Sold Bare)
Drive screws, bolts, and fixings faster and with less effort than a standard drill driver using the Draper Storm Force® CID20SF 20V Cordless Impact Driver — a compact, lightweight, and powerful impact driver from the Draper Storm Force® 20V Power Interchange series that delivers 180Nm of torque and an impact rate of 3,600 beats per minute in a remarkably light 1.24kg package. Sold bare — without battery or charger — the CID20SF is the ideal addition for existing Storm Force 20V tool owners who want to add a dedicated impact driver to their cordless toolkit without investing in a duplicate power system.
Unlike a standard drill driver, an impact driver combines rotational force with rapid concussive blows delivered along the drive axis — producing significantly more torque output relative to its size than a conventional drill driver, while dramatically reducing the wrist-twisting reaction force transmitted to the operator during driving. This makes the CID20SF the tool of choice for driving long screws into timber, tightening coach bolts and structural fixings, removing stubborn fasteners, and any high-torque driving application where a standard drill driver struggles or causes operator fatigue. At 180Nm and 3,600bpm, the CID20SF delivers the kind of driving performance that makes light work of tasks that would slow or stall a conventional cordless drill.
The 1/4" hex quick release collet accepts all standard 1/4" hex shank screwdriver bits, nut drivers, and hex drive accessories — the most widely used and universally available bit format in the industry. Bits can be inserted and removed with a single hand in a fraction of a second, keeping downtime between bit changes to a minimum on busy driving tasks. Variable speed trigger control from 0–2,800rpm allows precise matching of driving speed to the fastener, material, and application, while forward and reverse operation with electronic brake enables both driving and removal of fixings with immediate drive stop on trigger release for improved safety and control.
An integrated LED worklight illuminates the work area directly ahead of the bit — particularly useful when driving into recessed fixing positions, in poorly lit spaces, and in the confined areas common in joinery, cabinetry, and first-fix installation work. At just 1.24kg the CID20SF is one of the lightest tools in the Storm Force 20V range, making it exceptionally comfortable for sustained driving tasks, overhead work, and applications where tool weight and balance directly affect operator fatigue and productivity. As part of the Storm Force® 20V Power Interchange system, the CID20SF accepts any Storm Force 20V Li-Ion battery. Battery and charger are sold separately. Not compatible with Draper Storm Force® 10.8V batteries.

FAQ Section
What batteries are compatible with the CID20SF?
The CID20SF is compatible with all Draper Storm Force® 20V Li-Ion batteries within the 20V Power Interchange series, including the B202LISF 2.0Ah and B20LISF 4.0Ah batteries. It is not compatible with Draper Storm Force® 10.8V batteries. For extended driving sessions the 4.0Ah B20LISF is recommended for maximum runtime.
What is the difference between an impact driver and a drill driver?
A drill driver applies pure rotational torque to drive screws and drill holes — when resistance increases, the motor strains and the reaction torque is transmitted to the operator's wrist. An impact driver combines rotation with rapid concussive axial impacts that break through resistance in short, powerful bursts — delivering significantly more effective torque output relative to motor size, while reducing the reaction force felt by the operator. Impact drivers are faster, more effective, and less fatiguing for high-torque driving tasks than drill drivers of comparable size and weight.
What bits are compatible with the CID20SF?
The CID20SF accepts all standard 1/4" hex shank screwdriver bits, nut drivers, and hex drive accessories — the most widely available bit format used across the industry. Impact-rated bits are recommended for sustained use in an impact driver, as they are manufactured from more flexible steel that absorbs the repeated shock loads of impact driving more effectively than standard bits.
Why is the CID20SF sold bare?
The CID20SF is sold without battery or charger to provide the best value for existing Storm Force 20V tool owners who already have compatible batteries and chargers. Batteries and chargers are available separately within the Storm Force 20V range.
How does the CID20SF complement a cordless drill driver in a toolkit?
A cordless drill driver is the more versatile tool for general use — drilling holes, driving light screws, and mixing driving and drilling tasks. An impact driver excels specifically at high-torque driving applications — long screws, structural fixings, coach bolts, and stubborn fastener removal — where a drill driver's limited torque and reaction force make it less effective and more fatiguing. Many tradespeople carry both — a drill driver for drilling and light driving, and an impact driver for high-torque and high-volume screwdriving — making the CID20SF a natural companion tool to any Storm Force 20V drill in your toolkit.
Does the electronic brake make a practical difference?
Yes. The electronic brake stops the drive instantly when the trigger is released, rather than allowing the bit to spin down under its own momentum. This is particularly useful when driving screws to a precise depth — preventing over-driving — and when working in close proximity to adjacent surfaces or finished materials where an uncontrolled spinning bit could cause damage.
