The 1800W motor drives a 250mm (10") blade at 4700rpm — a higher blade speed than many larger table saws, delivering a noticeably cleaner finish cut in both hardwood and softwood. Maximum depth of cut reaches 74mm at 90° and 63mm at 45°, covering the full range of typical workshop cutting tasks from fine cabinet components to structural sections.

What sets the BTS256A apart from a conventional table saw at this size is the sliding wing on the left-hand side. The sliding table allows crosscuts and mitre cuts to be made with far greater accuracy and control than a fixed table with a mitre gauge alone — the workpiece travels with the sliding surface, eliminating the friction and drift that can affect cut quality on a standard table. Combined with the single side extension to the right, the fully extended work area reaches 800 x 590mm, providing ample support for large boards and sheet material.

The front locking rip fence keeps ripping cuts parallel and consistent, the supplied mitre gauge handles angled crosscuts, and the adjustable riving knife — a key safety feature — sits immediately behind the blade to prevent the kerf from closing and binding on the blade during a cut. A no-volt switch adds a further layer of safety, preventing unintended restarts after a power interruption.

Dust extraction is built in, keeping the work surface and workshop environment cleaner during operation. At 19.8kg the BTS256A is light enough to move and reposition without difficulty, and it's designed to sit on a workbench or, for a more permanent setup, on the optional dedicated stand (Draper stock no. 82572).
