Draper Expert Hydraulic Bottle Jack, 50 Tonne
Fifty tonnes is a different class of lifting equipment. At this capacity the BJE50 is not a workshop tool in the conventional sense — it is industrial infrastructure, the kind of equipment that underpins press work, structural steel erection, bridge bearing replacement, heavy plant maintenance, machinery installation and any application where the load being moved is measured in the tens of tonnes rather than the hundreds of kilograms. The demands on a jack operating at this level are correspondingly different, and the BJE50 is built to meet them.
The welded base and reservoir is the foundation of the BJE50's durability specification. Welding the base and hydraulic reservoir as a single fabricated assembly — rather than bolting or pressing separate components together — eliminates the joint interfaces that are the primary failure and leak points in lesser jacks under sustained heavy use. The result is a structurally monolithic base that resists deformation under the extreme compressive loads a 50-tonne lift generates and maintains the hydraulic seal integrity that smooth, consistent operation requires across years of demanding service.
The chrome-plated pump piston is specified for longevity and performance under conditions where a standard finish would fail. Hard chrome plating produces a surface that is extremely resistant to wear, corrosion and the abrasion caused by hydraulic seal contact across thousands of pump strokes. It also provides the dimensional precision and surface smoothness that an effective hydraulic seal demands — maintaining the tight tolerances that keep the hydraulic circuit efficient and leak-free as the jack accumulates hours of use in industrial environments where contamination, temperature variation and heavy cycling are normal operating conditions.
The automatic safety overload valve is the hydraulic system's last line of defence against overloading. At 50 tonnes of rated capacity, the consequences of operating a hydraulic jack beyond its rating are severe — seal rupture, cylinder deformation and sudden load loss are all potential outcomes. The overload valve prevents pressurisation beyond the rated limit regardless of how the handle is operated, protecting the jack's internal components and, more importantly, protecting the operator and the load from the consequences of a hydraulic failure event.
A 182 mm lift travel between the 300 mm minimum and 482 mm maximum positions covers the working range typical of industrial pressing, shimming, alignment and short-stroke jacking applications — the category of work where capacity is the primary specification and extended stroke is less relevant than the structural integrity to hold 50 tonnes without deflection. The zinc-plated three-piece handle assembles to provide adequate leverage for pump operation at full load and breaks down for storage alongside the jack.
For press shops, structural engineering contractors, plant maintenance facilities, heavy haulage operators and any industrial environment where loads in the 20–50 tonne range need to be raised, held and lowered under control, the Draper Expert BJE50 is the tool built for the job.
This bottle jack can lift up to 50 tonnes with a range of 300-482mm. It has a tough welded base and reservoir to increase strength and prolong service life. Features a smooth hydraulic lift and an automatic safety overload valve. It has a polished chrome-plated pump piston and zinc plated three-piece handle. It is ideal for heavy duty, commercial and industrial applications.
