Achieve the kind of precise, splinter-free cuts that track saws are renowned for — at a fraction of the cost of premium alternatives — with the Draper PS1200D 1200W Plunge Saw. Supplied complete with two 700mm guide rails featuring anti-slip grips, the PS1200D delivers the accuracy and versatility of a guided track saw system in a powerful, well-specified package ideally suited to site carpenters, kitchen fitters, joiners, and serious woodworkers who demand clean, reliable results from sheet materials, solid timber, and worktops.

Powered by a 1,200W motor with variable speed control from 0–5,200rpm, the PS1200D gives you the flexibility to match cutting speed precisely to the material and blade in use — slower, controlled speeds for melamine, laminate, and fine-finish work, and higher speeds for fast, efficient progress through structural timber and construction sheet materials. The plunge cutting action allows the blade to be lowered directly into the workpiece at any point along the cut, making it the ideal tool for internal cutouts, worktop sink apertures, and mid-panel cuts that a conventional circular saw simply cannot perform.

A 0–45° bevel cutting base enables angled cuts across the full bevel range, with a maximum cutting depth of 55mm at 90° and 42mm at 45° — handling the full range of common timber and sheet material thicknesses encountered in joinery, construction, and kitchen installation. The electronic brake brings the blade to a rapid stop the moment the trigger is released, significantly improving safety and reducing the time between cuts on busy job sites.

Dust extraction is handled by a dedicated fitting compatible with a standard workshop vacuum, keeping the cut line clear and the workspace cleaner throughout extended use. A spindle lock makes blade changes safe and straightforward, and the 20mm bore is compatible with the widest range of aftermarket 165mm blades for specialist cutting applications. Two 700mm guide rails can be joined end-to-end for cuts up to 1.4m — or extended further using the optional 98041 single 1.4m rail — making the PS1200D a genuinely flexible track saw solution for a wide range of panel and worktop sizes.

FAQ Section

What guide rails are supplied with the PS1200D?
The PS1200D is supplied with two 700mm guide rails fitted with anti-slip grips. The two rails can be joined end-to-end to create a 1.4m guided cutting run — suitable for full-length cuts across standard 600mm wide worktop sections and many common sheet material widths. For longer cuts, the optional 98041 single 1.4m rail is available separately.

What is the maximum cutting depth of the PS1200D?
The PS1200D has a maximum cutting depth of 55mm at 90° and 42mm at 45°, covering the full range of standard timber and sheet material thicknesses used in joinery, construction, and kitchen installation — including 18mm and 22mm sheet materials, solid timber sections, and laminate worktops.

What is the difference between a plunge saw and a circular saw?
A conventional circular saw cuts from the edge of a workpiece inwards. A plunge saw — or track saw — allows the blade to be lowered directly into the surface of the workpiece at any point, enabling mid-panel cuts, internal apertures, and worktop cutouts that a standard circular saw cannot make. When used with guide rails, a plunge saw also delivers significantly cleaner, more accurate cuts with minimal breakout — particularly valuable on laminate and melamine-faced boards.

Does the PS1200D have variable speed?
Yes. The PS1200D features variable speed control from 0–5,200rpm, allowing you to reduce cutting speed for cleaner results on delicate surfaces, laminates, and fine-finish materials, and increase speed for efficient progress through structural timber and construction board.

What does the electronic brake do?
The electronic brake applies an instant counter-current to the motor the moment the trigger is released, bringing the blade to a rapid stop rather than allowing it to spin down freely. This significantly improves safety between cuts, reduces the risk of blade contact after cutting, and speeds up the working cycle on busy job sites.

Can the guide rails be extended for longer cuts?
Yes. The two supplied 700mm rails join to give 1.4m of guided cutting length. For longer cuts, the optional 98041 1.4m rail is available separately, and additional 0.7m rails are available as 98199. Rails connect together to accommodate virtually any panel or worktop length.

What blade does the PS1200D use?
The PS1200D uses a 165mm diameter blade with a 20mm bore. A 24-tooth general-purpose timber cutting blade is supplied as standard. The 20mm standard bore gives access to a wide range of aftermarket 165mm blades for fine crosscutting, ripping, laminate cutting, and non-ferrous metal applications.

A 120V plunge saw boasting a cutting depth of 55mm at 90 and 42mm at 45, with a 0-45 bevel cutting base. Comes supplied with 2 x 700mm guide rails with anti-slip grips and 24T blade, and features dust extraction fitting, electronic brake, and spindle lock.
