What safety standard are Mongrel boots certified to? Mongrel safety footwear is manufactured and certified to Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2210.3:2009 Class 1. This covers a 200J impact-resistant toe-cap and tested slip, oil and fat resistance. The standard is broadly equivalent in protective scope to the European EN ISO 20345 standard but is not identical — UK safety officers should confirm acceptance for their specific site risk assessment.

Are Mongrel safety boots suitable for UK construction sites? Mongrel boots provide 200J toe-cap protection comparable to S1/S3-rated EN safety footwear, and are widely used by tradespeople in the UK. However, some sites mandate EN ISO 20345-marked footwear specifically. Always check with your site safety officer before specifying.

What does the steel toe-cap protect against? The 200J steel toe-cap protects the toes against impact from falling objects of up to roughly 20kg dropped from 1m, as well as compression forces. It does not protect the midfoot or upper foot — for those hazards, consider metatarsal-guard or full-foot protection boots.

Are Mongrel boots slip-resistant? Yes. The TPU/PU ToughSider® outsole is slip, oil and fat resistant across the range, with SRC slip-resistance certification available on selected styles. Check individual product pages for specific ratings.

Is the outsole heat-resistant? The TPU/PU outsole is rated to 130°C contact heat for short-duration exposure. For sustained or higher-temperature environments (e.g. foundries, hot metal work), specify dedicated heat-resistant footwear.
