At the top of the Draper Jet Force forced-air range sits the DSH1250 — a high-output, intelligently controlled space heater that combines 125,000 BTU (36kW) of heating power with the precision of a thermostatic control unit. Covering a suggested area of up to 15,000 cubic feet, it's built for large workshops, warehouses, agricultural buildings and commercial sites where both scale of output and quality of control matter.
The DSH1250 doesn't just push out the most heat in the forced-air range — it manages that heat more intelligently than most. The thermostatic control maintains your chosen working temperature automatically, while automatic ignition, a photocell safety device and an in-line fuel filter ensure reliable, safe operation from first light to last. The 40-litre tank delivers approximately 11 hours of continuous running at maximum output — and real-world runtime with thermostatic cycling will be longer still.
For large-scale site heating that demands performance, precision and staying power, the DSH1250 is Draper's most capable forced-air heater.
Key Features
Thermostatic Control — Precision at Scale
The DSH1250 brings thermostatic temperature control to the top end of the Draper forced-air range. Set your desired working temperature and the heater manages output automatically to maintain it — cycling as needed rather than running at full power continuously. In a large space, this translates to meaningful fuel savings over a long working day, and a more consistent, comfortable environment for the people working in it. Across the full forced-air range, only the DSH750 also offers this feature.
Maximum Output: 36kW / 125,000 BTU
With 36kW of heat output and 480m³/hr airflow, the DSH1250 is the most powerful forced-air heater in the Draper range. Its suggested coverage area of up to 15,000 cubic feet — 50% more than the 22kW models — makes it the right choice for genuinely large industrial spaces: high-ceilinged warehouses, large open-plan workshops, and expansive agricultural buildings.
11-Hour Runtime from a 40-Litre Tank
At a maximum consumption rate of 3.6L/hr, the 40-litre tank delivers approximately 11 hours of continuous heat at full output. With thermostatic control reducing output once the target temperature is reached, practical day-to-day runtime will typically exceed that figure — keeping the heater working across full shifts with fewer refuelling stops.
Automatic Ignition
Automatic ignition fires the DSH1250 instantly and reliably at the push of a button. No manual lighting, no warm-up ritual — just immediate, consistent ignition even in cold site conditions.
Photocell Safety Device
The photocell safety device monitors the combustion flame throughout operation. If the flame is extinguished unexpectedly, it immediately cuts fuel delivery and shuts the heater down — protecting the surrounding environment from unburned fuel accumulation and ensuring safe, unattended operation.
In-Line Fuel Filter
The in-line fuel filter maintains a clean fuel supply to the burner at all times, guarding against contaminants that could compromise ignition reliability or combustion efficiency and helping to extend the heater's working life.
Multi-Fuel: Diesel & Kerosene Compatible
The DSH1250 operates on both diesel and kerosene for flexible, cost-effective fuelling on any site. Note: Grade 2 or higher kerosene is required.
Manageable at 21kg
Despite producing 36kW, the DSH1250 weighs just 21kg — lighter than the wheeled DSH108 (24kg) and manageable for two-person repositioning on site without specialist equipment.

The DSH1250 sits at the summit of the Draper forced-air range — the highest output, the largest coverage area, and the largest tank. Alongside the DSH750, it is one of only two forced-air models in the range to feature thermostatic control.
DSH1250 vs DSH108: The High-Output Choice
Both the DSH1250 and DSH108 sit at the top end of the Draper forced-air range, but they represent different approaches to large-space heating.
DSH108 | DSH1250 | |
Output | 30kW / 102,300 BTU | 36kW / 125,000 BTU |

Runtime | ~10 hrs | ~11 hrs |
Weight | 24kg | 21kg |
Mobility | Wheeled frame | Portable |
The DSH1250 outperforms the DSH108 on output, runtime, feature specification and weight. The DSH108's wheeled frame gives it the edge for regular movement across large level sites. For most large-space heating applications, the DSH1250's combination of higher output and thermostatic control makes it the stronger overall choice.
Why Choose the Draper DSH1250?
The DSH1250 makes the case that more powerful doesn't have to mean more complicated or less refined. At 36kW it tops the Draper forced-air range — yet its thermostatic control, automatic ignition, photocell safety and in-line filter give it a specification that puts it ahead of several lower-output models in terms of features and intelligent operation.
The 40-litre tank and ~11-hour runtime mean it can work a full shift without interruption. The thermostatic control means it manages that shift more efficiently than a simple on/off heater ever could. And at 21kg — lighter than the wheeled DSH108 — it remains manageable on site without a dedicated trolley.
For large-scale site and commercial heating, this is the most complete forced-air heater Draper makes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the DSH1250 the most powerful forced-air heater in the Draper range? Yes — at 36kW / 125,000 BTU, the DSH1250 produces the highest heat output of any forced-air heater in the Draper DSH range. The DSH-IR30-B infrared heater produces 34kW but uses a different heating technology suited to open and draughty environments.
Does the DSH1250 have a thermostat? Yes — the DSH1250 is one of only two forced-air heaters in the Draper range (alongside the DSH750) to feature a thermostatic control unit. It automatically maintains your chosen temperature, improving fuel economy and working comfort over a long shift.
What grade of kerosene is required? Grade 2 or higher kerosene is required. Standard 28-second heating kerosene typically meets this specification — always verify the grade with your fuel supplier before use.
Can the DSH1250 run on red diesel? Yes — the DSH1250 is compatible with diesel including red (agricultural/commercial) diesel, as well as kerosene.
How large a space will it heat? Draper suggests the DSH1250 is suitable for spaces up to 15,000 cubic feet. As a practical reference, this covers a large workshop or warehouse unit approximately 50ft x 30ft x 10ft, or a similar-volume space with good ventilation.
How does runtime compare to the DSH108? The DSH1250's 40-litre tank provides approximately 11 hours of runtime at full output — slightly longer than the DSH108's 10 hours from a 33-litre tank. With thermostatic cycling, real-world runtime on the DSH1250 will typically extend further still.
Is the DSH1250 safe to use inside a building? The DSH1250 is suitable for well-ventilated spaces only. It must not be used in sealed, airtight or poorly ventilated environments. Always ensure adequate natural ventilation before operating.
Suitable for well ventilated spaces. Fitted with a thermostatic control unit, automatic ignition and photocell safety device. The in-line fuel filter gives reliable operation time and time again while the clean burning unit operates on both kerosene and diesel. Producing an impressive 125,000 Btu/hr, the 40ltr fuel tank gives approximately 11hrs continuous running time, making the unit extremely fuel efficient and economical. Grade 2 or higher kerosene required.
