The Draper DSH515/FLUE Far Infrared Diesel Heater brings intelligent, controllable and near-silent heating to workshops, garages, agricultural buildings and commercial premises — with the unique ability to be used in enclosed indoor spaces that are not well-ventilated, thanks to the supplied flue kit. Delivering 51,500 BTU (15.1kW) of far infrared heat across approximately 85m², it's the more compact sibling of the DSH675/FLUE, built for smaller spaces that still demand the full feature set.

Like its larger counterpart, the DSH515/FLUE draws just 50W of electricity and consumes as little as 1.2L/hr of diesel — making it one of the most economical heaters in the Draper range to run continuously. A remote control, digital thermostat, and 24-hour programmable timer give you full control of the heating environment without ever leaving your seat, while the far infrared technology distributes warmth evenly in all directions with minimal noise and virtually no odour.

For smaller enclosed workshops, compact commercial units and single-bay garages where conventional combustion heaters can't safely be used, the DSH515/FLUE is the right solution.

Key Features

Far Infrared Heat — Even Warmth in All Directions

The DSH515/FLUE uses far infrared radiant technology to spread heat evenly throughout a space in all directions — without the directional airflow of a fan heater or the concentrated beam of a near-infrared unit. People, surfaces and objects throughout the room absorb warmth naturally and consistently, eliminating cold spots and creating a genuinely comfortable ambient environment.

Flue Kit Included — Suitable for Enclosed Indoor Spaces

The supplied flue kit vents combustion gases externally, making the DSH515/FLUE the only type of combustion heater suitable for use in enclosed indoor spaces without ventilation. This critical capability opens it up for permanent or semi-permanent installation in spaces that would otherwise require electric heating — with all the fuel cost advantages of diesel over electricity. The flue must always be connected in non-ventilated indoor environments; in well-ventilated spaces it can operate without the flue as a portable unit.

Remote Control

The included remote control operates all functions — temperature setting, timer programming, on/off — without approaching the unit. Ideal for installed applications, wall-mounted units, or simply the convenience of managing your heating from a workbench or desk.

Digital Thermostat with LED Control Panel

The digital thermostat and LED control panel provide precise, visible temperature management at the unit itself. Set your target temperature and the heater maintains it automatically, cycling as needed to hold it — maximising fuel efficiency and maintaining consistent comfort throughout the space.

24-Hour Programmable Timer

Programme the heater to start before you arrive and shut down when you leave with the 24-hour timer. For workshops, commercial premises and agricultural buildings used to a regular daily schedule, this automated control reduces both fuel consumption and manual management.

Just 50W Electrical Consumption

With a rated electrical input of only 50W — less than a standard light bulb — the DSH515/FLUE places minimal demand on site power supplies and contributes almost nothing to electricity running costs. All primary heating comes from diesel combustion at just 1.2L/hr.

Very Low Noise

Far infrared heating generates warmth without a high-powered fan, and the DSH515/FLUE operates at very low noise levels — well suited to occupied workspaces, customer-facing commercial environments, and any situation where fan noise from a conventional heater would be disruptive.

Virtually Odourless

The clean indirect combustion design produces minimal odour, making the DSH515/FLUE far more pleasant to work alongside than many combustion heaters — particularly in the smaller, enclosed spaces where this model is most commonly installed.

Wheeled for Manoeuvrability

Despite its 47kg weight, the DSH515/FLUE is fitted with wheels for ease of repositioning — useful for moving between locations before permanent flue installation, or for seasonal storage.

Diesel and Kerosene Compatible

Runs on both diesel and kerosene from a 30-litre tank, with fuel choice dependent on availability and running cost preference.

Two Ways to Use the DSH515/FLUE

Without Flue — Well-Ventilated Spaces In garages, barns, open workshops, warehouses and marquees with adequate natural ventilation, the DSH515/FLUE operates as a portable far infrared heater without flue connection — in the same manner as other well-ventilated combustion heaters.

With Flue — Enclosed Indoor Spaces With the supplied flue kit installed to vent combustion gases externally, the DSH515/FLUE becomes suitable for enclosed indoor spaces without ventilation — unlocking spaces where no other combustion heater in the Draper range can be safely used. This makes it the practical alternative to expensive electric heating in sealed workshops, compact commercial units and enclosed agricultural buildings.

Important: The flue kit must always be connected and properly installed before operating in any enclosed or poorly ventilated space. Do not use in an enclosed space without the flue.

Where to Use the Draper DSH515/FLUE

Without flue (well-ventilated):

  • Garages and single-bay workshops with natural airflow
  • Agricultural outbuildings and smaller barns
  • Well-ventilated commercial or light industrial units
  • Marquees and covered outdoor event spaces

With flue installed (enclosed indoor spaces):

  • Sealed single-bay garages and workshops
  • Small-to-medium enclosed commercial premises
  • Indoor agricultural buildings without natural ventilation
  • Compact industrial and storage units
  • Permanent heating installations in enclosed spaces up to 85m²

Spaces up to 85m²

Spaces up to 110m²

If your space is up to 85m², the DSH515/FLUE provides the same full feature set as the larger model at lower fuel consumption, a lighter weight and a smaller footprint. For spaces between 85m² and 110m², step up to the DSH675/FLUE.

Why Choose the Draper DSH515/FLUE?

For smaller enclosed workshops and commercial spaces, the DSH515/FLUE resolves a problem that most site heaters can't: how do you heat an enclosed space efficiently with a combustion heater when there's no ventilation? The flue kit answers that directly — venting combustion gases outside so diesel's cost and energy advantages can be used in spaces where electric heating would otherwise be the only option.

Add remote control, a 24-hour timer, digital thermostatic control, near-silent operation and virtually no odour, and the DSH515/FLUE is a heater that genuinely changes how a space can be used — making it warmer, quieter and more cost-effective to heat, from a unit compact enough to live permanently in a single-bay workshop without dominating the space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Must I use the flue kit? The flue kit must be installed whenever the heater is used in an enclosed space that is not well-ventilated. In well-ventilated spaces — open garages, barns, workshops with good natural airflow — it can be operated without the flue. Never use in an enclosed space without the flue connected and properly installed.

How long will a full tank last? At 1.2L/hr fuel consumption, the 30-litre tank provides approximately 25 hours of operation at full output. With thermostatic cycling reducing output when the target temperature is maintained, practical runtime will typically extend beyond this figure.

What's the difference between the DSH515/FLUE and the DSH675/FLUE? The DSH515/FLUE is designed for spaces up to 85m² and consumes 1.2L/hr from a 30-litre tank. The DSH675/FLUE is designed for spaces up to 110m² and consumes 1.7L/hr from a 45-litre tank. Both share the same remote control, digital thermostat, 24-hour timer and flue kit. Choose based on the size of your space.

Can it run on kerosene? Yes — the DSH515/FLUE is compatible with both diesel and kerosene.

How large a space will it heat? The DSH515/FLUE is designed for spaces of approximately 85m² — equivalent to a generous single-bay workshop or garage, or a compact commercial unit of similar floor area.

Is it really only 50W of electricity? Yes — the rated electrical input is 50W, used purely to power the burner and control electronics. All primary heat output comes from diesel or kerosene combustion. This makes the running electricity cost negligible compared to the fuel cost.

How does far infrared differ from a standard fan heater or site heater? Standard forced-air heaters warm the air in a space, which then warms the occupants — a process that's inefficient in draughty or large spaces where warm air escapes or rises. Far infrared heaters emit radiant heat that is absorbed directly by objects and people in the space, spreading evenly in all directions. The result is more consistent warmth, lower noise, and better efficiency in spaces where heated air would otherwise be lost.

Is the DSH515/FLUE safe to use indoors? With the flue kit properly installed and venting externally, yes — it is specifically designed for enclosed indoor use with the flue connected. Without the flue, it should only be used in well-ventilated spaces. Always ensure the flue is correctly installed before indoor enclosed use.

This indirect far infrared diesel heater with flue kit features a remote control and digital thermostat for easy heat control. It is economical, low noise, almost completely odourless and highly cost efficient to run. This heater consumes only 50W of electricity to keep the burner operating and it consumes as little as 1.2 litres of diesel fuel per hour. Unlike traditional fan heaters, infrared heat spreads evenly in all directions. Designed for heating spaces of approximately 85m². Can be used in well-ventilated areas such as garages, barns, workshops, warehouses and marquees. The flue kit supplied allows for a more permanent installation and must be used for enclosed indoor areas (not well-ventilated). The LED control panel features a 24-hour timer and full thermostatic control, all conveniently operated by the remote control. It is fitted with wheels for maneuverability.
