Newark-based entrepreneur qualifies for National Chamber of Commerce Awards for UK's most successful business.

Founder of Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies Ltd, Malcolm Hall has recently been named as the East Midlands' Entrepreneur of the Year and also picked up the East Midlands award for Achievement in International Business.

Hall-Fast is now a finalist in both categories for the UK title in the Awards hosted by the British Chambers of Commerce, which were created to celebrate the UK's most successful businesses.

The Chamber Awards were set up to recognise the passion and hard work put in day after day by entrepreneurs in order for their business to succeed, which in turn creates jobs in the local community and contributes to the economic recovery, desperately needed in today's climate.

John Longworth, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce, said: "The health of the UK's economy relies upon the confidence of our business to grow, invest and create jobs. That's why the British Chamber of Commerce has been working hard to ensure government makes good on its promises to encourage enterprise, and do everything in its power to help businesses grow"

Malcolm Hall left school with just two Grade C GCSEs and found it a challenge to even secure himself a place at college. After a lot of hard work, the passionate self-starter set up Hall-Fast, a multi-award winning company that initially supplied the automotive industry with specialist fasteners.

When a dip in the industry loomed, Hall took the decision to diversify their product range to include work wear and tools to the general industrial sector. Hall-Fast now exports to more than 70 countries and expects sales to be up by 73 per cent next year, with profits more than tripling.

Having won the regional award, Hall-Fast is now in the running for the national title in its categories. In addition, the business has a chance to collect the Award for Outstanding Business Achievement - with a top prize of £25,000 and runner up prizes of £15,000and £10,000.

There are nine national award categories backed by high profile sponsors such as RBS, NatWest, BT Business, BT Directories and DHL Express. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at London's Grand Connaught Rooms on November 24th 2011.
