Hall-Fast MD Joins the Board at Nottingham Rugby

Posted on April 28th, 2016

Hall-Fast’s owner and Managing Director Malcolm Hall MBE has officially joined the board of Nottingham Rugby as community director, in what will be the club’s 140th year.

Pictured: Malcolm Hall MBE

Pictured: Malcolm Hall MBE

Speaking about his new role at the Green and Whites, Malcolm said:

“Hall-Fast has been involved with Nottingham Rugby’s community programmes for five years already, where our programme in North Nottinghamshire has reached over 20,000 youngsters, helping to support the rugby network across the county. We’ve recently re-signed for a further five years, as we have been so impressed with everyone’s commitment at the club.

“I’m really pleased that the club have asked me to join the board and hope that we can continue to grow and develop our community programmes and the academy, with increased support from new sponsors.”

The multi award-winning Little Ruggers programme is part of the current community activity sponsored by Hall-Fast, and its recent success has blown away the club’s general manager, Steve Smith, who said:

“I know Little Ruggers is a brilliant concept and programme, but I’ve been overwhelmed with its growth within clubs such as Paviors, Bingham and Corsairs and in community settings in Keyworth and Cotgrave, and now also into the Reception and Key Stage 1 age groups in primary schools.

“Both Malk and I have been exceptionally pleased our partnership to date and the fact that we have been recognised both in the county and nationally for our innovative approach and outcomes.”

The ability to support the club and to help continue to grow and develop its community programmes is of massive importance to both Malcolm and his wife Rachel. The impact that the Hall-Fast programme has had within the wider community for Nottingham Rugby has been significant over the years, helping the club to raise its profile within the NLD (Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire) region.

Malcolm’s key role within the community department will be to support Steve, helping to attract new sponsors and grants, whilst also supporting the re-launched Land Rover Nottingham Rugby Academy squad, which is already developing into a stepping stone for talented young players to join the Green and Whites’ first team, whilst supporting talented youngsters to be the best they can be.

Hall-Fast MD to Take Part in Sleep Out

Posted on January 18th, 2016

Pictured: Photo from the last sleep out

Hall-Fast MD Malcolm Hall MBE will be joined by local business directors on the Stags Sleep Out 2016.

Malcolm will be joined by Paul Nyland from Mansfield Town FC, Andy Plant from Acorn Signs, Steve Devine-Bradbury (Riley & Co), Mark Burton (Ulyett Landscapes) and Paul Andrews and Connor Doran of Mansfield Manor on a night of freezing temperatures inside One Call Stadium on Friday 29 January.

The local businessmen will be ‘sleeping rough’ inside the One Call Stadium to raise awareness of homelessness and will be raising money for Joint Forces Alliance, a charity committed to helping homeless military veterans and local people.

Jason Rathbone, founder of the charity said: “We’re a volunteer-lead organisation and we need the donations; furniture and food is all donated by the local community and any money raised goes towards fuel to put in our van, volunteer costs, various types of insurance and our overheads.

“We try to help everyone in their time of need, so we supply beds, water and anything they need to get ‘back on their feet’. We really ‘kit people out’; so we’ll give them four sets of knives, forks, bowls, saucers and other things like cleaning materials.”

Jason continued: “We wouldn’t exist if there wasn’t the need for it. We operate only on donations and we put in 300 volunteer hours a week.

After completing the Sleep Out last year, Malcolm is pleased to be taking part in this year’s event “I am really looking forward to this year’s Sleep Out, hopefully our other community partners Nottingham Rugby and Paviors Rugby will support us to raise awareness of what we are doing and with some of our friends, family, customers and suppliers donating hopefully we’ll raise enough money to support Joint Forces Alliance and the excellent work they do, both for the military veterans and the local community’’.

On the night of the event, there is going to be a party in the Sandy Pate Sports Bar to raise as much money as we can for the charity. Everybody is welcome but all we ask is that every attendee brings a tin of non-perishable food to donate to Joint Forces Alliance

The event in the Sandy Pate Sports Bar starts at 8pm on Friday 29 January and will include a disco, karaoke and a raffle. Entry will be free for all.

Last year’s Sleep Out raised £2,317.36 and the group are looking to beat that figure this year. Their fundraising campaign has already started and you can donate here: http://www.stagssleepout.co.uk/donate/4591483878

Hall-Fast owner Malk Hall and A Star Media Director John Starkie completed a gruelling 310 miles (500 kilometres) in 24 hours charity bike ride in aid of three charities, namely Headway Nottingham and Headway UK – the brain injury association and Mansfield’s Fountaindale SEN School, which helps youngsters, aged three to 19 years with physical and sensory needs.

The Mansfield based businessmen set off from Newcastle at 11 am on Saturday 22nd August and arrived in London on Sunday 23rd August, 23 hours and 30 minutes later, after overcoming strong headwinds and 7,500 feet of climbing along the way.

Over the last 6 months they have undertaken intensive training for the ride under the guidance of former World and Olympic medallist Bryan Steel to get them prepared for the challenge.

“It was the hardest thing that I have ever done” commented Malk Hall – Owner of local industrial supplies business Hall-Fast, “We are both really proud to have completed this challenge, almost 400 top cyclists took part in the event and John and I finished together in position 126, we would have finished in the top 90 or so if it wasn’t for us losing about an hour when my bike chain broke; I would like to thank everybody who has supported us along the way and helped us to raise much needed money for our chosen charities”

Hall-Fast began their fundraising campaign almost three years ago, and the amount of money raised for the Fountaindale SEN School is expected to surpass £60,000 by the end of this year.

Hall-Fast MD Malk Hall said the “It was a fantastic event and a huge success, we will not know exactly how much was raised on the night for another week as we wait for all of the money to come in, but it will be in excess of £21,500, I would like to thank the event sponsors, everyone who donated auction and raffle prizes and everybody who came along to the event”

Almost £8,000 was also raised earlier in the year from a 100 mile Nottingham Rugby Charity Bike Ride, and with a 300 miles in 24 hours charity bike ride (Newcastle to London) taking place on the 22nd August, it is hoped that closer to £35,000 will actually be raised this year.

Hall-Fast began their fundraising campaign almost three years ago, and the amount of money raised for the Fountaindale SEN School is expected to surpass £60,000 by the end of this year.

Thousands of Pounds Raised for Mansfield SEN School Through Steelers’ Charity Teddy Bear Toss and Auction

Posted on April 2nd, 2015

A Mansfield school has once again benefited from the generosity of big-hearted ice hockey team the Sheffield Steelers – which has raised more than £1,100 through a teddy bear auction and toss.

The Elite League champions raised £1,129 for the Fountaindale SEN School through auctioning off teddy bears the players had made as well as a teddy bear toss during the recent clash with the Cardiff Devils at the Motorpoint Arena.

Fans threw thousands of teddy bears onto the ice after the first goal in the encounter, which the Steelers won 2-1 to claim the league title.

It is the second year the charity spectacular has taken place for the school, which helps youngsters aged between three and 19 with physical and sensory needs.

The school has recently moved into a new, purpose-built facility at its existing Nottingham Road site, but relies heavily on fundraising to help it buy much-needed equipment.

Money raised from the auction and toss will be mainly used to towards the purchase of PA and lighting equipment for the school hall, as well as outdoor play equipment.

Its principal Mark Dengel said he was grateful for the continued support of the Steelers, which hosts the teddy bear toss with Mansfield-based North Notts community partners and club sponsor Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies.

More than £100,000 has been raised for the school in the past two years, with Hall-Fast contributing more than half of that total through various fundraising activities such as its annual charity ball.

“Normally in a year we’d raise £10,000 if we’re lucky,” said Mr Dengel. “Without the money that has been raised, I don’t know where we would have been. It’s way above what we expected.

“I think it’s wonderful the support we have had from the community, and from Hall-Fast and its sponsors. It’s also great that the Steelers have continued their support for a second year.”

Hall-Fast owner Malcolm Hall and his wife Rachel were joined by Steelers commercial manager Mike O’Connor, pictured, to hand over the teddy bears to Fountaindale and to meet youngsters who will directly benefit from the fundraising. The bears will be sold to help buy new equipment.

Said Mr Hall: “I really appreciate the continued support of the Sheffield Steelers organisation and their fabulous fans.

“Their ongoing support as one of our community partners really is very much appreciated.”

The third Hall-Fast charity ball takes place on 29th May at the John Fretwell Centre, Sookholme.

The community partnership has helped to introduce 500 youngsters to the game of rugby union across all age groups in the past 12 months and the latest school to benefit has been Ravenshead’s Abbey Gates Primary School.

There, youngsters in the foundation stage were treated to a visit by Nottingham’s mascot Archie the Stag and the club’s community coach Josh Salathial, as well as enjoying a host of fun activities through rugby and agility, balance and coordination.

The session was part of the club’s Little Ruggers programme to help introduce younger children to rugby.

Josh, who works full-time for Nottingham Rugby, said: “I’ve been working in Abbey Gates School during the year with rugby specifically for the older children, but we wanted to also try our new Little Ruggers programme in a school and being in North Notts it was a great link with our community partner Hall-Fast.”

The Little Ruggers’ sessions focus on fun and engaging activities for children and in a community setting with the ultimate aim of encouraging families to get involved in healthy and interactive fun games.

Nottingham Rugby will be working to try to roll out Little Ruggers in the lead up to the Rugby World Cup later this year.

Steve Smith, Nottingham Rugby Club’s general manager, said: “The Hall-Fast programme has helped us to introduce over 500 young people to rugby at all age groups during the past 12 months and working with the Foundation stage at Abbey Gates has been another brilliant development to this programme.”

This programme focuses on getting young people active and engaged in sport at an early stage and introduce them to physical activity in a great and fun way.

Malcolm and Rachel Hall, the owners of award-winning Mansfield industrial supplies firm Hall-Fast, went along to the session at Abbey Gates where their oldest son Charlie is a pupil.

Said Malcolm: “The session was just brilliant and the children loved Archie the Stag coming into school and joining in with some great and fun activities, including passing a variety of different balls to help the children’s hand – eye coordination.

“The smiles on every child’s face was great to see and we have been really pleased at how well our Hall-Fast North Notts Community programme has been received by the local schools.”

Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies has renewed a major sponsorship deal with Mansfield Town Football Club for the 2015-16 season.

The Mansfield company will continue to sponsor the back of the club’s away shirt next season and remain commercial and community partners of the Stags.

Hall-Fast, based on Anglia Way, is currently nearing the end of its first season as a club partner which has seen the award-winning firm sponsor a number of first-team matches at the One Call Stadium.

The firm also has prominent pitch-side advertising as part of the deal and this will continue next season.

Hall-Fast’s owner and managing director Malcolm Hall said: “We’re really pleased and proud to be renewing our sponsorship deal with Mansfield Town Football Club.

“This will build on an excellent first season with the club which has seen us develop our profile through back of shirt sponsorship and pitch-side advertising.

“We look forward to continuing what has already been a successful partnership into the next season.

“We are passionate about local sport and through our sponsorship look forward to continuing to develop community initiatives with the club in the local area.”

Mansfield Town Football Club’s commercial manager Paul Nyland said he was delighted Hall-Fast had re-affirmed its commitment to the Stags.

He said: “My thanks and appreciation are extended to Malcolm Hall and Hall-Fast for their continued support towards the club.

“To have a prominent company in the community like Hall-Fast working along side us underlines our intention to work alongside the best and brightest companies in the local area.”

Hall-Fast is also a sponsor and community partner of Nottingham Rugby Club, Mansfield Rugby Club and the Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team.

It recently announced a major five-year sponsorship package with historic Nottinghamshire horse racing venue, Southwell Racecourse.

Under that deal, the main grandstand will be named after the firm and Hall-Fast will have exclusive branding rights to the interior and exterior of what will be known as the Hall-Fast Stand.

Preparations in Full Swing for Third Hall-Fast Charity Ball

Posted on March 20th, 2015

Only a handful of tickets are left for the third Hall-Fast Charity Ball at the
John Fretwell Sporting Complex in May.

The fundraising spectacular is the brainchild of award-winning Mansfield businessman Malcolm Hall and this year will raise money for the Fountaindale SEN School as well as Headway Nottingham and Headway UK – the brain injury charities.

In the last two years, Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies has helped to raise thousands of pounds to buy new equipment for Fountaindale – a school which sits on the Mansfield and Ashfield border and helps youngsters aged three to 19 with severe physical and sensory needs.

This year Headway will also benefit from the charity ball, which takes place on 29th May and will include a sumptuous three-course meal as well as top class entertainment.

Almost all of the 280 tickets have been sold for the black tie event.

Said Mr Hall: “We are tremendously proud to have sold the number of
tickets we have. It is through the support of friends, family, customers, suppliers
and our community partners that we’re able to do it – and we appreciate all the support we get.

“It’s a fabulous night and we’re raising cash for three great causes. It’s easy for me to say it, but it’s true, it’s the most prestigious event in North Notts. There will be 280 people there. A lot of business people will also be there. It’s a great night and a lot of fun will be had by all.”

Money which has been raised in previous years has helped Fountaindale to kit out its new purpose-built school with the very latest ICT equipment.

The Nottingham Road school moved into its new build in October last year and principal Mark Dengel said the ‘amazing’ fundraising efforts of Hall-Fast helps to provide the youngsters with the vital equipment they need.

He said: “The school gets an annual budget, but around 95 per cent of that has to go on staffing because of the needs of our youngsters – so there’s very little left for the technology and specialist equipment that we need.

“We do rely so much on the fundraising from the local community. I have to say they have been absolutely fantastic in the last two years. We have raised well over £100,000 and around half of that has come through Hall-Fast and their sponsors.

“They have been really amazing – and because of that we have now got probably half way towards having all the equipment we would really like to have.”

The charity ball is just one of a number of events Mr Hall will be taking part in this year to raise money for the charities.

In April, he and other cyclists will take part in a 100-mile bike ride to raise money for Headway.

One of the main inspirations for the ride on 17th April is ex-Nottingham Rugby Club legend David Jackson, who was forced to retire from the game due to a head injury.

Then in August, Mr Hall will be cycling 300 miles from Newcastle to London in 24 hours.

Rhiana Lakin, fundraising officer at Headway, said the support Hall-Fast had provided to the charity over the past year had been ‘incredibly valuable’.

She said: “What their support is actually going to do directly is that it’s going to help us provide behavioral and physical workshops to help people overcome their disabilities.

“Without their support we maybe wouldn’t be able to provide some of those services and specific activities.”

Tickets for the charity ball cost £75, plus VAT.

The Sheffield Steelers crucial final game v the Cardiff Devils on Saturday 21st March will see a Teddy Bear Toss take place in aid of the Fountaindale SEN School in Mansfield.

The Mansfield based specialist school helps youngsters aged between 3 and 19 with physical and sensory needs and is in desperate need of money to enable them to purchase new equipment. Hall-Fast have committed to raising money for them and are on target to raise over £65,000 within 36 months. Last year’s Teddy Bear Toss and Build a Bear Raffle raised £1,363 for the school and over 3,000 teddy bears were thrown on the ice which were later sold by the school at Easter and Christmas markets and went towards purchasing equipment.

The Steelers are North Nott’s Community Partners of Industrial Supplies firm and major Steelers backers Hall-Fast, and fans from both sides will be encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game, and throw them onto the ice when the Steelers score their first goal. The toys will then be gathered up and will be donated to the youngsters at the school.

Hall-Fast intends to raise more than £30,000 over the next 12 months and have joined forces with former Nottingham Rugby legend David Jackson to achieve this, with the final amount being split 50/50 between the two charities.

It is hoped that half of this figure will come from the Hall-Fast Charity Ball, with the other half being raised from a gruelling physical challenge in April 2015 and other charity events that are planned, including charity curry nights and events with Hall-Fast’s North Nottinghamshire community partners, Nottingham Rugby and ice hockey club the Sheffield Steelers.

Hall-Fast owner Malk Hall said: ‘’I’m really pleased that the events team at our Chamber of Commerce is organising next year’s Hall-Fast Charity Ball. They have a wealth of experience of organising events and with an ever-growing membership of 3,800 firms, the awareness of both charities will be raised further afield.

“We also hope that our fellow Chamber members from across the three counties will purchase tickets or sponsor what is now widely-recognised as North Nottinghamshire’s most prestigious annual event.’’

Seventy tickets have already been reserved and a number of sponsors have again given their support to the event, including Greene King, Mansfield Town FC, A Star Media, Brunts Academy and A1 Flue Systems.

If you would like to reserve a table of 10, buy individual tickets, or become a sponsor of this high profile event, please contact Chamber’s events team on (01332) 851 280, or email Jenny.Markland@dnlcc.co.uk. Malcolm and Rachel are brilliant contributors to the local community and are always up for getting involved. Whether it’s through sponsorship, charity events or fundraising, they are a great example of how family businesses can give back to the community where they started. They are great role models for young entrepreneurs who should realise that business isn’t all about money – it’s about being part of something.

The Red Ribbon awards take place on 20th June at the Goldsmiths’ Hall in London where guests at the awards will be treated to a magical night of fine dining, world-class entertainment and a charity auction.

Founder of the awards, Anita Brightley-Hodges, says “family businesses contribute such a huge amount to the economy, not to mention providing millions of jobs and supporting local communities and charities. The Red Ribbon Awards are the only accolade which put every family business on a level playing field. It’s not about turnover or industry; it’s about the fantastic achievements of individuals and their family firms.”

Teddy Bear Toss Boost for Mansfield SEN School!

Posted on April 10th, 2014

A Mansfield school has received a funding boost after a charity ‘teddy bear toss’ by supporters of ice hockey team, the Sheffield Steelers.

Pictured: Hall-Fast owners Malk & Rachel Hall & Sheffield Steelers star Danny Meyers present the cheque for £1,363 to student Dominic Evans

The charity spectacular saw fans of the newly-crowned Elite League Play-Off winners throw teddies onto the ice after the Steelers scored the opening goal in the recent clash with the Coventry Blaze at the Motorpoint Arena.

Now around 2,000-plus teddy bears have been donated to Fountaindale SEN School, which will sell them to raise money to buy equipment for its new building set to open in October. Fountaindale, on Nottingham Road, helps youngsters aged between three and 19 with physical and sensory needs.

Principal Mark Dengel was delighted with the latest donation, saying: “It’s amazing, without that sort of support we couldn’t provide half the specialist equipment that we need for our children. “Because of the detail of their needs we need a vast amount of technology and we want to equip the school with the best technology there is. “We are going to sell them. We think there is well over 2,000 teddy bears there, so that’s going to bring in a good sum of money.”

The teddy bear toss was the idea of the Steelers’ players after a visit to Fountaindale last month, organised as part of the club’s North Notts Community Partnership with Mansfield firm, Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies.

Last week, Steelers star Danny Meyers was on hand to present a cheque for £1,363 – with Malk and Rachel Hall of Hall-Fast – which was raised by him and his team-mates after teddy bears they made themselves were auctioned off following the Blaze game.
He said: “It’s awesome to come and meet all the kids here and to see their enthusiasm and how excited they are.

“The staff here are tremendous as well, they are so kind. Coming down here is a great thrill for me and is actually pretty close to where I live as well, so I’m really glad to have met the people and I’m really glad we can help them out.”

Anglia Way-based Hall-Fast has committed to raise £50,000 for Fountaindale within two years and hosts its second, annual charity ball for the school at the John Fretwell Centre on 9th May. For more information on this event or to purchase tickets, please email Rachel@hall-fast.com

Mansfield based industrial supplies firm Hall-Fast, has extended its North Nott’s Community Partnership with Championship team Nottingham Rugby.

The latest deal confirms the multi-award winning company as one of the RFU Championship club’s leading community partners for a fourth year.

Hall-Fast managing director Malk Hall has been the driving force behind the Green and Whites’ scheme in North Nottinghamshire which has seen the Meadow Lane club deliver coaching to thousands of students within primary, secondary and SEN schools across the region.

“I am very pleased to extend our North Nottinghamshire Community Partnership with Nottingham Rugby, the work that the club has done over the last few years within the area has been tremendous in primary and secondary schools and also within the Fountaindale SEN School,” Mr Hall said. “This programme means much more than just delivering coaching and expanding the Green and Whites reach across the Shire; we are all intent on encouraging healthy and active lifestyles, whist raising the confidence and aspirations of the youngsters.”

The success of the programme was evident a few weeks ago when Tom Calladine, a former student and teacher, delivered two sessions to year seven and nine students in their PE lessons at the Garibaldi College, the Nottingham rugby number eight gave the students an insight into professional rugby, and the students clearly responded to him.

Mr Hall continued “Closer links between the Mansfield business community and Nottingham Rugby have also been forged with members of leading business organisation M2020 being invited along to two Championship rugby games this season courtesy of Hall-Fast”.

Nottingham Rugby Operations Director Chris Simon said Hall-Fast’s continued support is a major coup for the club. “I’m delighted that we will carry on working together and that this relationship, which has already had a significant impact in North Nottinghamshire, will continue to grow and impact on people in the area as Nottingham Rugby moves into a new era for the club,” Mr Simon said. “This is another great example of what sport and business can achieve when working together. We are all excited about what the future holds as this partnership goes from strength-to-strength.”

The rugby club was recently purchased by a new group that has subsequently become known as ‘The Friends of Nottingham Rugby’. The club plays in the RFU Championship, the second tier of professional rugby in England, but has desires to get to the Premiership and take on teams like Leicester, Northampton and Saracens,

Simon added: “It’s been a tough season for Nottingham, on and off the field, but the sale of the club presents a great foundation on which we can re-launch our strategy. We have a fantastic facility at Meadow Lane, a great training base and a committed and dedicated management team with high aspirations. Our partnership with Hall-Fast is a key part of our delivery plans over the next few seasons.”

Local businessman Malk Hall has given his full backing to Nottingham Rugby legend David Jackson who is set to ride an incredible 80 miles in just one day with a group including the Hall-Fast owner, in order to raise money for Headway – the brain injury association; whilst also raising awareness of the dangers of concussion in sport.

The former rugby union professional, Nottingham’s most-capped player and the club’s top try scorer of all time, was recently forced to quit the game due to the damage caused to his brain as a result of repeated head injuries sustained during his career.

“I was already in training for a coast to coast fundraising ride in April which is in aid of the Fountaindale SEN School, so when I found out about the challenge I was keen to also get involved with this” said Mr Hall. “The work that Headway undertake to improve lives after brain injury is essential to many people and I am keen to do more to help them and David in the future”

Luke Griggs – speaking on behalf of Headway said ‘’We are delighted that David and his team are supporting Headway in this manner,” “Cycling 80 miles in one day is a very daunting prospect – particularly as they will be setting off from Leeds at 5.30am when it’s still cold and dark.

“I’m sure he will get a rousing reception when he arrives at Meadow Lane stadium at the end of his ride and we will look forward to being among those to welcome him home”.

“We are also hugely grateful to David for speaking so openly about how repeated head injuries have caused lasting damage that is affecting his life. It is hugely important that people realise the importance of treating concussion appropriately and David’s work will help us to change attitudes towards concussion in sport.”

This is the latest in a number of physical challenges and fundraising events that Hall-Fast has organised over the last 18 months in aid of the specialist school, which helps youngsters aged 3 to 19 with physical and sensory needs.

The team made up of Hall-Fast managing director Malk Hall and a number of other local people, namely Rob Bray, John Starkie, Katie Atherton, Julie Leonardo, Eden Taylor, Matthew Back, Caroline and Steve Smith, Craig Edwards and Jonathan Crowder, will set off from Morecambe on Friday 25th April and cycle the 170 miles across The Way of the Roses route, arriving in Bridlington on Sunday 27th April.

“It is great that so many local people have come together to support Hall-Fast with this event, not only have the guys on the team committed their own time to training and to taking part in the challenge they have also committed their own money to buy equipment and pay for accommodation,’’ said Mr Hall. ‘’Between us we hope to raise around £4,000 by doing this.”

The Mansfield-based company, which has pledged to raise £40,000 within 24 months, is well on the way to achieving this with more than £22,600 raised so far.

And with the second Hall-Fast Charity Ball taking place on 9th May, which is expected to raise more than £20,000, Mr Hall is confident the target will be smashed.

Mansfield Town FC & Hall-Fast Agree Sponsorship Deal

Posted on September 12th, 2013

Multi-award winning industrial supplies firm Hall-Fast and League Two outfit Mansfield Town FC have agreed a sponsorship deal which will see the firm sponsoring at least four home games this season.

Malk Hall & Paul Nyland (MTFC)

Pictured above is Paul Nyland (MTFC) with Malk Hall (Hall-Fast)

Commenting on the deal, Malk Hall, Hall-Fast managing director, said: “We sponsored the Stags’ home game against Dagenham and Redbridge in August, and enjoyed the hospitality and the day so much that I wanted to do more with the club.”

“With all of the other sponsorship deals that we currently have in place with teams in different sports, I guess that I was initially just dipping my toe in the water with them, but I was so impressed with what I saw and with the ambitious plans that John Radford has for the club that I am sure our partnership will develop a lot further.”

Hall-Fast commenced trading in August 2006 with just £5,000 start-up capital, today the business still remains self-financed from profits.

Although initial focus was on supplying specialist fasteners into the UK automotive sector, the company now supplies more than 100,000-plus products including tools, work wear, access and handling equipment and consumables into 76 countries.

Mansfield Town commercial manager Paul Nyland sees Hall-Fast’s involvement with the club as a major coup. He said: ‘’Hall-Fast’s work within the local community is well publicised, they were recently named Britain’s Best Business and it is great to have them on board. Clearly the hard work that the commercial team at the club has put in over the last few years is paying off.’’

The partnership between the two is also developing off the field, with Malk Hall speaking at the Mansfield Town Business Academy event on the 16th October and with the club sponsoring the next Hall-Fast Charity Ball on the 9th May 2014 – where it hopes to raise £20,000 on the night for the Fountaindale SEN School in Mansfield.

Advertisement boards at the One Call Stadium are available from as little as £300+ vat, for further information on this or to discuss a tailored commercial package with Mansfield Town, call Paul Nyland on (01623) 482 482 or email him paul.nyland@mansfieldtown.net

Mansfield Industrial Supplies Firm’s Community Rugby Success!

Posted on May 2nd, 2013

There was a Green and Whites tinge in the battle for Mansfield tag rugby supremacy earlier this week.

St Phillips and King Edwards Schools featured in the final of the primary schools tournament at the Mansfield Rugby Club on Wednesday. Both schools have been involved in Nottingham Rugby’s hugely successful pilot programme in North Nottinghamshire driven by multi-award-winning company and the club’s major community partner, Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies.

Since the scheme was launched last year the promotion-chasing RFU Championship club has run training courses in 23 schools, clocking up more than 150 hours of coaching, in the region. All that hard work is geared towards getting students active on fun-filled and competitive days of tag rugby which have been organised by School Games Officers and the RFU.

The latest event saw eight schools come together with 16 teams of boys and girls aged between 9 and 11-years-old line-up against each other. Malk Hall, managing director of Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies, was a special guest at the tournament and was delighted to see youngsters embrace the game. “The smiles on their faces, win, lose or draw was a great credit to all participants and spectators alike,” Hall said. “It’s was a fantastic event and one which has been supported by quite a few local primary schools, but it’s a shame more were not in attendance considering what a great afternoon this was for the children. There are currently about fifteen primary school festivals that Nottingham is supporting across the County at present, with over 1,000 young people taking part in total making it a huge spectator sport.”

Nottingham Rugby community coach was proud to see two schools where he has delivered coaching battle it out in the final at the end of a highly competitive day of knock-out action. “It was great to have two of the schools who have taken up the offer of coaching in Mansfield,” Salathiel said. “Having Malk come along to watch has been fantastic because he can see firsthand the sort of impact his contribution has made to the community.“

Both of the finalists will now go to the County Tag Event in a few weeks-time taking place at the Mellish Rugby Club, so I have offered some additional coaching to them to try and help them do their best at the County Finals. And if they were to win the County Finals they go to a Regional Event, and get a shot at going all the way to the National Tournament at Twickenham as part of the RFU Tag to Twickenham programme.”

The eight schools who took part all played over 60 minutes of rugby, with boys and girls competing together in this non-contact form of the game.

There are several local rugby clubs who offer high quality coaching opportunities, so if you are young or old and fancy a go at rugby or simply want to dust off your boots, visit www.rfu.com to find out details of your nearest local club.

Industrial Supplies Boss Trains for Tough Guy Event with Nottingham Rugby

Posted on January 18th, 2013

Malk Hall found himself snowed under by six of Nottingham’s biggest rugby players as he prepares himself for the most gruelling charity event of his life. 17 Jan NRFC Tough Guy Training

Malk is Managing Director of multi-award winning company Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies, and was put through his final paces by Championship side Nottingham Rugby ahead of next week’s Tough Guy Challenge in Perton, near Wolverhampton.

Entering the punishing event, covering a 15km assault course which involves dips into freezing water and crawling through icy mud under barbed wire, is all part of Hall-Fast’s efforts to raise £20,000 for Fountaindale School. Already more than £4,000 has been raised for the Mansfield-based special education needs school.

Green and Whites players may not have had barbed wire, but they did test the limits of Hall’s physical endurance by making him run a gauntlet of drills designed to harden even the toughest of rugby players up.

Doubled-over after the session, Hall mustered the strength to thank the Nottingham players for the hour of rugby torture that included everything from trying to manhandle resident hardman Tom Calladine to wrestling former Premiership lock Nic Rouse.

“I was revving the lads up before the sessions because I didn’t want them to take it easy on me,” said Hall.

“I needed to test myself because I’m facing a serious challenge in which people have been hurt in the past. Only a third of people complete the Tough Guy Challenge and I don’t want to be one of those that fail, because I’m out there to raise money for the students of Fountaindale.

“I came out to man up, and the Nottingham Rugby boys have certainly made me do that.”

Away from the frozen pitch, the Green and Whites have partnered up with Hall-Fast to deliver coaching sessions at Fountaindale School as part of its North Nottinghamshire Project. MalkHall_tackle

Nottingham Rugby first team and community manager Steve Smith said the club is proud to add its muscle to the cause.

“Malcolm is passionate about everything he sets out to achieve and we are delighted we can help out like this,” said Smith.

“We know making him suffer on the rugby pitch for an hour in this freezing weather is all for a good cause, and that makes us feel very warm inside.”

Backing for Nottingham Rugby

Posted on October 29th, 2012

A new North Notts Community partnership venture between Nottingham Rugby and Hall-Fast is currently taking shape to provide a “Rugby in the community” programme delivered by NRFC players and coaches within schools throughout Mansfield. Hall-Fast has provided the funding to enable this programme which it hopes will encourage youngsters to enjoy sport, help tackle our growing childhood obesity problem and, more importantly, show teenagers how to broaden there horizons, achieve there aspirations and learn new skills.

Fountaindale School raises £17,000 to order Variety Club Sunshine mini bus with help from Hall-Fast who pledge to raise another £20,000

Mansfield based Fountaindale School can at last replace its rusting old mini bus and place their order for a brand new 17 seater Variety Club Sunshine

coach having raised the required donation figure of £17,000 thanks to a final donation of £2,500 from Malcolm and Rachel Hall of Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies.

And the good news does not end there!

Hall-Fast has also announced that Fountaindale School will be its nominated charity until June 2013 and will be doing various events between to help raise a further £20,000.

Commenting, Fountaindale School Headmaster Mark Dengel said, “I was absolutely delighted to receive the missing sum we needed to finally order the bus. To then learn that Hall-Fast have pledged to raise a further £20,000 for the School is amazing.”

Commenting, Malcolm Hall added, “Lots of fund raising activities are planned, including the usual dinners, raffles, charity walks. However, in January 2013, myself, Matt Jones, Shaun Taylor and a number of others will be taking part in the grueling Tough Guy challenge. This 14km endurance event involves ice cold mud, tunnels, barbed wire and assault courses. We expect our mental and physical ability to be tested to their limits which we hope will encourage our sponsors to be especially generous with their money as we seek to improve the facilities Fountaindale School can offer its children!”

Founded in July 1957 in Thieves Wood, Fountaindale Schools is a specialist school for children with complex physical and sensory needs aged between 3 and 19. Children are transported to the school in mini-buses from throughout the East Midlands. The new Variety Sunshine coach has 17 seats and a tail-lift. It will hopefully arrive for the Autumn term and help provide transport for day trips and other opportunities for students to explore the wider world.

Since 1962 over 500 Variety Sunshine coaches have hit the road, travelling over 350,000,000 miles, benefiting 60,000 young children in the last three years.

Team Hall-Fast complete Three Peaks Challenge raising £5,000 for Action Medical Research

Posted on June 11th, 2012

A team from award winning Mansfield based industrial supplies company, Hall-Fast, has completed the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Action Medical Research. So far they have raised £5,000 and will be keeping their fund raising account open until 30 July in the hope that further donations will

enable them to reach their target of £10,000.Team Hall-Fast complete Three Peaks Challenge raising £5,000 for Action Medical Research

In total 45 teams took part in the event, and whilst all teams completed the challenge, only 15 teams managed to travel and complete their climbs within the idyllic 24 hour period. The winners posted an incredible time of 20 hours 28 minutes and a climb time of under ten hours! Meanwhile, the Hall-fast team recorded a very credible time of 29 hours and 45 minutes and a total climb time of 15 hours 36 minutes despite a hold up on Ben Nevis to rescue an injured climber from another team in front of them, and incredible congestion on the roads around Fort William due to the Olympic torch procession!

The Hall-Fast team, comprised Malcolm Hall from Hall-Fast, Matt Jones from Merrix-Grogan financial advisers, Rob Bray from Accountants Stopford Associates, Dean Bray from Estate agents Lime Living, Skills Broker and Leadership and Management Specialist Bruce McLeod and Mark Pearson from Thera East Midlands.

Starting at the foot of Ben Nevis in the spectacularly beautiful setting of the Scottish Highlands, finishing at the foot of Mount Snowdon in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, with a climb of Scafell in the Lake District in between, the team was tested to the limit ascending and descending the three mountains – Ben Nevis at 4,409 ft, Scafell Pike at 3,206 ft and Snowdon at 3,560 ft. And in an extra special challenge, teams had to take the charity’s mascot Paddington Bear up and down each mountain!

Team members also had to cope with changing clothes, eating, drinking and sleeping as they travel to their next destination by road, but this was slightly more comfortable for team Hall-Fast who were provided with a luxury camper van by Dean Hyde at Camper UK Ltd (Lincoln). They also had T-Shirts kindly donated by NRG Fuels.

Commenting Malcolm Hall said, “I have worked hard to be successful in my business and I’m really passionate about giving something back and helping others. Each year Hall-Fast has supported a worthy cause and I’m delighted to be supporting Action Medical Research.”

Action Medical Research was founded nearly sixty years ago by Duncan Guthrie in his quest to find a cure for polio. Since then, it has contributed to some of the most significant medical breakthroughs in recent history. Today, Action Medical Research continues to find and fund the very best medical research to help tackle premature birth, treating sick and vulnerable babies, helping children affected by disability and disabling conditions and infections whilst also targeting rare diseases that together severely affect many forgotten children.

Olympic Opportunity for Youngsters – May 2012

Posted on May 15th, 2012

Managing Director, Malcolm Hall has played a leading role organising and staging of a Mansfield 2020 Junior Enterprise Event, which was aimed at giving Year 9 students in the area an opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

The event was run in conjunction with Mansfield Learning Partnership – a partnership between local education providers and employers, to provide the best possible education for young people in Mansfield.

An Olympic theme added extra interest to the event as students worked in teams to form, and run, a small business. They were given the opportunity to attend an enterprise masterclass, and their project includes making a short promotional video for their business.

A number of local sponsors are involved, including Hall-Fast who are sponsoring the ‘Overall Winner’ category. The winner was to the Garibaldi School.
